The Silent Moulding (2025)

Digital color photograph, 2025

Measurement.
Pressure.
Correction.

It doesn’t matter what lies beneath—
only what is needed.
What is expected.

It wants to shape your voice,
your dreams,
your being.

But essence resists.
It does not break.
It is not forgotten.

THE SILENT MOULDING

CONCEPTUAL note

This image does not speak only of expectations placed on the body, but of those that aim to shape voice, dreams, desire, and behaviour.

It evokes a subtle, almost imperceptible violence—one that does not impose through force, but through persistence.
A violence that hides behind what is expected, what is deemed correct, what is framed as acceptable.

The curtain acts as both physical and symbolic boundary. It outlines a mould, a pattern the figure cannot inhabit, yet is constantly pushed toward.
There is no space to expand. No room to choose.

Keixpa’s body is contained, but not erased. She stands with her head lowered and face obscured, struggling not to lose her identity.
Two light sources expose her from both sides—attempting to measure, define, categorise.
But the mould fails.
Essence remains.
