phase I – Acts of Control

Acts of Control explores how external systems — social, professional, and cultural — shape identity through repetition, discipline, and language. In these works, the body appears as both subject and surface: a site where gestures of control, correction, and expectation become visible.

Conceptual photography, typographic interventions, and performative gestures are used to reveal how these structures operate subtly yet persistently. Words, symbols, and repeated actions function as tools of inscription, gradually shaping behaviour and self-perception.

Rather than presenting resistance as a dramatic rupture, these works focus on quieter forms of pressure — the subtle ways systems mould personality, ambition, and presence. The body becomes a terrain where external forces leave visible and emotional traces.
