Hidden Binding — (2026)
Kiosk photographic prints, fragmented and torn, stitched to a cut bedsheet with thread.
Hidden Binding — (2026)
CONCEPTUAL note
The body is the first thing that appears before others; the matter, space, and surface through which we exist in the world and come into relation with one another. But what happens when the pressures of the system are internalized and become part of our fabric, when the bindings once imposed from outside are now applied from within? The self hides, fractures, and begins to transform deeply into something else, something foreign. This work stages that disappearance: a body still held together by the same rule and pressure that are unmaking it.
The work shows a body with ribbons, laces, and threads already knotted into the hair, self-applied. The pressures that once came from outside now live and push from within. The resulting photograph was divided and printed in fragments at a kiosk, then torn by hand and finally stitched to an old bedsheet. The everyday, domestic quality of the materials speaks to a self-imposed binding happening at all levels.
We inhabit the world through a visible body, a being that still wants a voice while it undergoes a hidden binding.
